RFDS urges caution on country roads during holiday season

The Royal Flying Doctor Service has urged all West Australians travelling on country roads over the Christmas holiday season to take extra care to reduce WA’s shocking rural road toll.

Royal Flying Doctor Service Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs Nick Harvey made the call following the release of statistics which show a steadily increasing demand for emergency aero-medical services during the festive season.

“This festive period, we don’t want to see any trauma on our roads,” Mr Harvey said.

“The best gift you can give your family and friends, is to arrive safely. We can all have a part to play in this by doing things such as cutting down on distraction by switching off your mobile phone.”

Mr Harvey said it was already well known that Wheatbelt drivers were massively over-represented in WA’s road toll.
