Durack artists to receive Australia Council grant

Member for Durack Melissa Price congratulated John Bennett for receiving an Arts  Projects Organisations 2015 grant, and the Broome Aboriginal Media Association Aboriginal Corporation and Marrugeku Inc on receiving an Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups 2015 grant through the Australia Council’s September core grants program.

Total funding of $10.4 million was provided to 290 projects to be delivered by individuals, groups and small to medium arts organisations.

Ms Price welcomed the Aust-ralian Government funding and congratulated the three local recipients on their grants.

“These grants enrich our communities by giving our local artists and organisations oppor-tunities to create new works, develop their professional skills and entertain both Australian and inter-national audiences,” Ms Price said.

Minister for the Arts, Mitch Fifield said the Australian Government is committed to supporting Australian artists and arts organisations, and providing opportunities for them to showcase their work to audiences.

The Australia Council’s core grants program supports the creation and presentation of new artistic work, increases access and participation in the arts across Australia, and builds the profile of Australian arts and culture both nationally and internationally.
