One man has died and another two men have been injured following a marine incident about 1.5 kilometres off shore direct from Bowen Harbour.

Initial information suggests around 10.30am police were advised that a boat with three people on board had capsized.

A search and rescue operation was undertaken involving police, Volunteer Marine Rescue, private boats and other emergency services.

The two injured men have been transported to Bowen Hospital.

The boat involved is currently being towed back to Bowen Harbour.

Update – Missing person

Police are appealing for further public assistance in their search for a man reported missing from Beaudesert last week.

The last confirmed sighting of Jamie Hardgraves, 43, was at Thiedke Road at Beaudesert on Tuesday May 17.

On the evening of Tuesday May 17 he was also seen at a service station at Springwood.

Investigations to date indicate that his vehicle may have been involved in a crash at Stanthorpe-Texas Road early on May 18.

Following a discussion with a member of the public, police now believe Mr Hardgraves may have made his way to the Stanthorpe area.

Mr Hardgraves is described as Caucasian, about 175cm tall, proportionate build, short straight sandy hair with blue eyes.

Police hold concerns for his welfare as his behaviour is out of character.

Missing boy

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a boy missing from Cairns.

The 11-year-old boy (pictured) was last seen by a family member at Cairns Central Shopping Centre, McLeod Street on Monday May 23.

He is described as having a light brown complexion, around 140cm tall with a slim build and short dark brown hair.

Police have concerns for his welfare due to his age.

Search and rescue recommences today

A search has recommenced this morning for a man reported missing in the Lamington National Park area since Saturday.

Initial investigations indicate the man, aged in his fifties, went bush walking on Saturday morning and contacted police on Saturday night to say he had become lost.

The man was instructed to stay in place but could not be located on Sunday morning.

A search and rescue operation involving police, Polair, National Park and Wildlife rangers and SES personnel was conducted yesterday and is continuing today in the area of the Running Creek Falls walking track.

The ground search recommenced at 8am today with SES staff, National Parks rangers and police.

Air support through Polair will begin around 10.30am in a further attempt to locate the missing man.
