Police appeal for information following death of man

Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was found in Nowra on Monday afternoon.

About 3.10pm (Monday 23 May 2016), emergency services were called to the carpark of a supermarket on Haig Avenue, after a man was found unconscious.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command and Ambulance Paramedics treated a 42-year-old man, however he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Police are now appealing for anyone who has information about this incident to contact Nowra Police Station on (02) 44219699.

Two charged near Coonabarabran over alleged drug supply

Police - NSW (Coonabarabran)Two Foreign Nationals have been charged after highway patrol officers located a large amount of prohibited drugs in their possession near Coonabarabran.

About 11.50am yesterday (Wednesday 25 May 2016), officers attached to Coonabarabran Highway Patrol stopped a Mitsubishi Magna on the Newell Highway, 2km south of Coonabarabran.

Police found cause to search the vehicle, allegedly locating a large quantity of drugs including cocaine, cannabis and MDMA.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Belgium, and the passenger, a 26-year-old man from France, were both arrested and taken to Coonabarabran Police Station.

They were both charged with supply large prohibited drugs – indictable quantity. The 26-year-old French man was also found to be an unlawful resident.

They were refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 26 May 2016).

The incident has prompted Commander of Traffic and Highway Patrol, Assistant Commissioner John Hartley to warn motorists of the consequences of using the road to undertake unlawful activities.

“If you think you are going to get away with illegal activity on our roads, you can think again, he said.

“The CATCH program targets vehicles suspected of transporting drugs and other illegal contraband.

“Police are out in force, and if you are doing the wrong thing, we will catch up with you.”

Man charged following alleged sexual assault

A man has been charged following an alleged sexual assault, involving two personnel, at a federal government facility in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

Between 6.30pm and 7pm (Wednesday 25 May 2016), a 20-year-old woman was in the laundry of the facility when it is alleged she was approached by a man.

It is further alleged the man forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her before leaving.

The incident was reported to police and an investigation commenced.

About 2.30am this morning (Thursday 26 May 2016), police arrested a 26-year-old man. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 26 May 2016).

The geographic south pole is marked by a red and white striped pole, which must be relocated each summer because the ice on which it sits moves more than 9 meters (30 feet) each year.”
