Police are ramping up their efforts to locate the Latta children who have been missing for nearly two weeks.

The children, 11-year-old Jaylee Latta, 8-year-old Matika Latta, and 8-year-old Zahara Latta, were last seen at Shannon Crescent in Watsonia on 28 June.

The children are believed to be with 49-year-old Watsonia woman Tracey Heuston.

A grey Mitsubishi Magna sedan thought to be driven by Tracey was located in Alphington on Saturday 2 July.

Tracey is known to frequent the Rockbank, Preston, Glenroy and Hadfield areas.

Banyule Senior Detective Dale Ward said that someone must have seen Tracey and the children or know at least know of their whereabouts.

“It’s not easy to disappear, especially if you have three children with you,” he said.

“We need to find these children and return some normality to their lives.

“There is a correct way to resolve this situation and we are asking anyone who sees Tracey or the children to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.”

Police continue appealing for public assistance to help find the three Latta siblings and their mother missing from Watsonia.

The children, 11-year-old Jaylee Latta, 8-year-old Matika Latta, and 8-year-old Zahara Latta, were last seen at their home in Shannon Crescent, Watsonia northeast of Melbourne on 28 June.

The children are believed to be with 49-year-old Watsonia woman Tracey Heuston.

She is believed to have been driving a grey Mitsubishi and is known to frequent the Rockbank, Preston, Glenroy and Hatfield areas. Police believe she may be currently using a different vehicle.

The father of the missing children, Jason Latta, and his eldest daughter, Kiya, have pleaded through Channel 7 for Ms Heuston to turn herself into the police.

He is concerned over her erratic behaviour and her recent disturbing posts on social media.

They have been door-knocking with friends in the hope of locating the girls and their mother. Police have indicated Ms Heuston and the Latta children have been sighted locally, and they believe they are still in the area.

Kiya was until recently staying with Tracey Heuston. She has told Channel 7 she was kicked out about a week ago.

Police are obviously also concerned about Heuston’s and the children’s welfare and investigators have released images of the children in the hope someone may recognise them and contact police.

Police have also released a photo of Tracey.

Tracey is described as being approximately 155cm tall with a thin build, long brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Jaylee, Matika or Zahara or Tracey is asked to contact Greensborough Police Station on 8432 0200.
