Out of control gathering – four charged

Mirrabooka Police have charged a total of four people over four separate Out of Control Gatherings in the metropolitan area in June and July 2016.

Police - Out of control gatheringIt will be alleged that a party was organised at an address in Foxglove Gardens In Mirrabooka on 7 July, with police being called to attend and declaring it an Out of Control Gathering at around 10.15pm.  During the incident, three police officers were assaulted and a total of 10 charges were laid.  Over $2,000 damage was caused to the property.

Police conducted further inquiries into the organisation of the party and identified a 17 year old boy and 18 year old girl who were allegedly in a business arrangement organising parties at various addresses throughout the metropolitan area.

It will be alleged the two would advertise the parties on social media with an estimated 500 to 1000 people registering to attend.  On occasions, the parties would be held at private premises without the owner’s permission, and a fee was always charged for admittance.

It will be further alleged the two held another party on 17 June 2016 at an address at Thurlow Avenue in Yokine which was declared an Out of Control Gathering and another in Snowberry Avenue Retreat in Mirrabooka on 24 June 2016.

A third person, a 19 year old man, was allegedly hired to DJ for the two Mirrabooka addresses.

A 17 year old boy of Mirrabooka has been charged with:

  • 2 x Organise a Gathering That Became Out Of Control (Yokine and Foxglove Gardens Mirrabooka)
  • Trespass (Snowberry Retreat Mirrabooka)
  • Fraudulent Appropriation of Power
  • Aggravated Burglary and Commit Offence in Dwelling
  • Fraudulent Appropriation of Power

He will appear before the Perth Children’s Court on 25 July 2016.

An 18 year old girl of Ballajura has been charged with:

Organise a Gathering That Became Out Of Control (Thurlow Avenue Yokine)

  • Trespass (Snowberry Retreat Mirrabooka)
  • Fraudulent Appropriation of Power
  • She will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 28 July 2016.

A 19 year old man of Balga has been charged with:

  • Trespass (Snowberry Retreat Mirrabooka)
  • 2 x Fraudulent Appropriation of Power
  • Aggravated Burglary and Commit Offence in Dwelling (Foxglove Gardens Mirrabooka)

He will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 29 July 2016.

A fourth person has been charged over a separate Out of Control Gathering in Nollamara on 1 July 2016.

A 25 year old man of Parmelia has been charged with Organise a Gathering that Became an Out of Control Gathering.  He will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 13 September 2016.

Police believe these charges send a strong message to those who organise out of control gatherings that they will not be tolerated and charges will be laid.

Police will also seek the recovery of costs associated with their attendance at these out of control gatherings.
